This is a mandatory test for all the players that played
for AC Milan the last season.
The opportunity to be successful relies many times on who can run more at the end of the game. The club believes that evaluating the players is an essential part of their development as soccer players.
Keeping precise data of their performance will not only allow them to measure their own improvements but also it will help the coaching staff find better ways to prepare the each individual player. The tests will be performed twice a year and the data will also be use to evaluate the coaching staff performance as we will be able to compare data from one test to another. The tests are designed to help players understand where they need help the most. The players should be responsible for working in the areas where the need more improvement. It is very important to clarify that scoring high in these tests will not automatically mean playing time, playing time will always be decided by the coach at game time.
AC Milan Academy will evaluate each player in 4 different aspects of their fitness: Flexibility, Strength and Coordination, Velocity and Vo2 Max (aerobic capacity). We will also test the players in two main technical tests: Dribbling and Finishing.
The participation of the players is not optional. We encourage you to be prepared and ready the date of the test.
Fitness Test
- VO2 MAX: conducted to measure the aerobic capacity of the player by implementing a test of 1000 meters at maximum speed.
- FLEXIBILITY: this test allows us to maintain or improve the flexibility and elasticity of the player. It will create conscience of the importance of having good flexibility and elasticity in order to prevent injuries and develop better technical movements.
- STRENGTH AND COORDINATION: conducted on a computerized carpet through a couple of vertical jumps using the hands for maximum elevation (Abalakov). The objective is to evaluate the strength capacity of the player as well as the technical movement and motor coordination. Additionally, a test of sit-ups and push-ups will be part of the exercise.
- VELOCITY: With this test we seek to examine the player’s reaction speed, maximum speed and his/her technical running movements in a distance of 15 to 20 meters with and without the ball using a computerized laser system.
Technical Test
In order to organize and go smoothly through the process, the players will be divided into 2 different groups. Each player should bring running shoes, cleats, water and a soccer ball.
- Dribbling test: the player will dribble a soccer ball between cones (15-20 meters). The laser will be used to determine the correct technical dribble in a period of time.
- Finishing test: using the goal and 4 balls - the player has to kick with the left leg and the right leg from a distance.
